A modern retelling of the German legend "Tristan and Isolde", "Tris and Izzie", is about a young witch named Izzie who is dating Mark King, the captain of the basketball team and thinks her life is going swimmingly well. Until-- she makes a love potion for her best friend Brangane and then ends up taking it herself, accidentally falling in love with Tristan, the new guy at school. 

I have a confession to make: before I found out about this book, I knew almost nothing about Tristan and Isolde apart from the name. Since hearing about this, I've gone and done my research. I probably won't be able to see the opera any time soon, but the movie is definitely on my list. Plus, I adored Mette Ivie Harrison's The Princess and the Hound, so I can't wait to read more of her writing.
